Inspection Set-up Towable RVs

(Travel Trailer, Fifth Wheel, Toy Hauler)

Inspection set-up - Towable:   When working with RV Detectives and when an inspection is scheduled we want to ensure all tests can be performed.  Thank you for working with our mutual client to schedule the NRVIA Certified RV inspection with RV Detectives.

To ensure tests can be performed on all the systems on the RV, the following is required:

  • Electrical hook-up

  • Water hook-up

  • Propane on board

  • 12V coach battery/batteries on board

  • Sewer connection (if available)

  • Fuel on board, if equipped with a generator

  • Space to extend the awning(s) and slideout(s), if equipped

  • Space to access and walk around all sides of the RV

  • Keys to the RV, so the locks for the door(s) and cargo bay(s) can be tested

Please turn on the refrigerator prior to the inspection so that it may reach operating temperature.

  • RV absorption refrigerator: please turn on at least 12 (twelve) hours prior to the inspection.

  • Residential refrigerator: please turn on at least 4 (four) hours prior to the inspection.

RV Detectives does not provide water hoses, sewer hoses or connections, electrical adaptors or connectors, generators, propane, batteries or fuel. Please make sure these are all available prior to the scheduled inspection time.

RV Detectives will not be responsible for testing water systems if an RV has been winterized, unless the owner gives permission to de-winterize the RV. If an RV is de-winterized during the course of an inspection, RV Detectives does not re-winterize the RV at the end of the inspection. Re-winterization is to be arranged between the owner and potential buyer.

Towable units are not hitched or moved to assess tow-ability.
